I absolutely love this French press! The ability to make a large quantity of French press coffee at one time is wonderful. I especially love the filter on the press itself and the filter in the lid; both serve well to keep large amounts of grounds from leaking out into your coffee. My previous 32-ounce French press - from a different vendor and manufacturer - kept allowing such large amounts of grounds to contaminate the coffee. Thank you for the answer to my problem.
I've long used a French press but have always had concern of the glass breaking. Additionally, it lost heat and didn't have much for capacity. Having bought one of the storage canisters from the Monks (highly recommend) I was compelled to try a press given the quality of the canister. I'm happy that I decided to try, the press has not disappointed. Why? I'm glad you asked! It's solid, and retains heat well. If this thing shatters, I have bigger concerns that need addressing. Did I mention capacity? Using a tankard style mug, i went from having to press twice with the old press, to pressing once with this and having a refill. On the fence? Take a leap of faith, you will not be sorry.
I first purchased two of the chrome presses when Mystic Monk started selling them and have not regretted that decision yet! I am retired military and my many moves have broken more glass presses than I can count, so having a well insulated and heavy duty press was something I needed. These presses do exactly as described above each day. I was so impressed with the Monk Press (chrome) that when I retired and changed professions I purchased two more presses (black) for work. I will continue to use the Monk Press for years to come!
Used for first time...love it. My coffee is HOT from first to last cup. So happy I purchased. Next item will be a grinder!
What can I say...The coffee was great and the press was great. It was my first time using a press and it was easy and fast and the coffee was great
