September 2016 - Colombian Tolima Supremo

For our September Coffee of the Month we have the Colombian Tolima Supremo.  This fine coffee is of the highest, Supremo, grade which refers to both the large size of the bean and also the quality of the cup itself. Roasted Beans Choir Monk: These beans look nice; they are large and evenly roasted. I can see small oil patches on the beans which would indicate a medium roast.  I can smell tones of charred cedar. Lay Monk: Yes, Br. Roaster took these beans to around 430 degrees to accentuate the best qualities of the bean. I can smell hints...

August 2016 - Flores Bajawa Ngura

For our August Coffee of the Month we have the exotic Flores Bajawa Ngura.  Long time Coffee of the Month club members will remember we also offered this fine coffee in 2012 and 2013. Flores is an Indonesian island located east of Java. Unlike most of Indonesia the population of Flores is almost entirely Catholic. This coffee is prepared using the "wet hulled" process common to many Indonesian coffees and results in a very distinctive flavor. Roasted Beans Choir Monk: These beans look very good! A little larger then most beans we've had but I can tell that they are...

July 2016 - Rwanda Dukundekawa Musasa

The Review: July's coffee of the month is the Rwanda Fair Trade Dukundekawa Musasa. Rwandan coffee has been gaining popularity in the last few years and the Dukundekawa is one of the finest offerings available. We last featured it last in way back in March of 2012, and this year's crop is truly exceptional.  Roasted Beans Choir Monk: The beans look good. I can see that they were roasted evenly. The aroma is fantastic! I can detect hints of amaretto cherry and flowers. Lay Monk: These beans were roasted to around the 430 mark. This picture was taken just...

June 2016 - Coffee of the Month - Summer Blend

The Review Developed especially for the summer, our Summer Blend contains coffee from some of the finest regions in the world.  It is crafted in such a way as to be enjoyed when brewed hot in a French press or drip machine, or cold-brewed overnight.  This review is based on the hot-brewed coffee; the cold-brewed is similar, but with even more sweet, chocolaty notes! This fine coffee is great with or without milk, and is an essential addition to any coffee lover's kitchen. Roasted Beans:   Choir Monk: This roast looks very good!  I can see that it is...

May 2016 - Coffee of the Month - Tanzanian Peaberry

The Review For our January Coffee of the Month, we have the Tanzanian Peaberry.  Peaberry coffee beans are formed when a single coffee bean develops in the coffee cherry instead of the usual two beans.  The peaberry beans make up only a small percentage of the coffee crop, and are smaller and denser then regular beans.  We first featured the Tanzanian Peaberry back in 2011, and this month's offering is every bit as unique and flavorful as that one was!  Roasted Beans:     Choir Monk: These beans look very good!  These peaberry beans are much smaller than most coffees,...
