Extra Dark Roast
Delicious and smokey with caramel tones, our extra dark roasts are really bold - wowzers! - in fact they are EXTRA BOLD.
Today's Lesson: A dark roast is crafted to taste great with milk and sugar. Why? As the inside of the coffee bean gets very hot, around 450 degrees, the molecules become caramelized, which means that they start to burn up. If this process is tweaked carefully, a delicious smokey and spicy taste results. Now the darker roast decreases the caffeine content, which is why you might find yourself drawn to, say, a Midnight Vigils Blend in the evening. Remember, they taste delicious with a dark complimentary chocolate cake or brownie - or a contrasting vanilla nut torte. Yum. |
